A histogram is a graphical way of presenting a distribution of a feature. It shows how often a different value in a set of data occurs and is used to indicate changes in momentum. It also may be mistaken with a bar chart because it looks pretty similar. However, there are distinct differences between them as histograms are dedicated to showing distributions of variables, while bar charts compare variables.
Histogram vs. Bar Graph
In a histogram, data is grouped into continous number ranges, and each range corresponds to a veritcal bar.
There are two consecutive bars in a histogram, and the x-axis should represent only continous data in terms of numbers.
Using a bar graph, we can present categorical data in the form of rectangular bars, where the length of each one is proportional to the value they stand for.
There must be equal space in bar graph between every two following bars, and the x-axis can represent anything.
